Some Stories Don't End When the Smoke Clears
I finished writing Dominion, the fifth book in The Ambush Files Saga, and I sat with it for a long time.
Jack Rourke had done what he set out to do. He'd broken Black Phoenix from the inside. Burned the protocols. Watched the operatives scatter and the infrastructure collapse. Bravo Team went their separate ways. SIWA sealed every file. VultureSix, the shadowy network that had threaded through every layer of the conspiracy, vanished from every record as if it had never existed.
It should have been the end.
But I kept thinking about the spaces between the answers Jack found. The questions he didn't ask because the ones in front of him were loud enough. The silence that settled after the last detonation, not the peaceful kind of silence, but the kind that makes you hold your breath because you know something is still moving in the wreckage.
Writers talk about characters who stay with them after the book is done. Jack Rourke didn't just stay. He sat down across from me and waited.
I'm not here to announce anything today. I'm here to say this: if you've read The Ambush Files Saga and you felt that same quiet pull at the end of Dominion, that sense that the silence was louder than it should have been, trust that instinct.
And if you haven't read the series yet, now is the time.
The Ambush Files Saga is five books: a prequel novella (The Ambush Files) followed by The Ghost Protocol, Black Phoenix, The Fractured Oath, and Dominion. Together, they follow Jack Rourke from the moment he stumbles into a conspiracy so deeply buried that exposing it means dismantling the institutions that built it.
It's a story about loyalty, deception, and the cost of knowing the truth when the truth was designed to stay hidden.
The complete series is available now on Kindle and Kindle Unlimited.
